The most prominent Ayyappa temple in Karnataka is situated in Jalahalli, 14 kms. away from Bangalore. The temple was established in 1967 and the consecration ceremony was performed by the then Sabarimala Thanthri, Sri Thaazhaman Kandararu Sankararu. During the pilgrimage season, a large number of Ayyappa devotees arrive here for wearing the Ayyappa Mudra and the Kettunira ceremony. Sri Ayyappa Educational and Charitable Trust functioning under the temple committee is actively engaged in organising and conducting several social and cultural activities like running a school, supply of drinking water, giving free medical service, etc. The silver jubilee of the temple was celebrated in 1992.
